The Premières Côtes de Bordeaux

Discover Laroque and its terroir, a wine-growers village in the heart of the Côtes de Bordeaux region

The Right Bank is one of the oldest and most prestigious wine-growing areas in the Bordeaux region. Renowned for its breathtaking landscapes and exceptional terroir, it's no surprise that many visionary winegrowers have chosen to establish themselves here. They're at the forefront of vine cultivation, adapting to the latest trends while honoring their traditions.

The navigable waterways of the Garonne have played a pivotal role in facilitating the commercial development of Cadillac wines since the Middle Ages. The 17th century witnessed a surge in the popularity of Cadillac wines, driven by robust trade relations with Holland, which fostered technological advancements in wineries and the construction of secondary residences. These elegant bourgeois residences, often referred to as 'follies', competed with one another to showcase their opulence.

And then, of course, there are the villages! They are the true heart and soul of winegrowing, a far cry from the bourgeois 'follies', but so charming. The wine trade has been going strong since the Middle Ages and has developed right up to the present day, but it's impossible to imagine growing vines without winegrowers and cellar workers. Gathered together in more modest winegrowing villages, they leave an air of authenticity to the local heritage.

Laroque embodies the spirit of authenticity, where winemakers are deeply devoted to their terroir, crafting wines that seamlessly blend modern techniques with traditional practices. These wines exude a seductive finesse, showcasing fruity, ripe and gourmet aromas, and on the palate, they are full and velvety, offering a sensory experience that is both sophisticated and memorable.

At our wine-tasting workshops, we invite you to discover the wines produced by local winegrowers, so that you can understand the terroir they share and what makes them different.

You can also explore the vineyards on foot, by electric scooter or – why not? – on horseback, along the marked roads and paths that run through the 'Premières Côtes' area.
